He started his studies
in ballet in Cordoba, Argentina and continued his classical training at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires. At young age he moved to the United States, where he was awarded with scholarships at two of the finest schools
of dance in New York City, Martha Graham School of Modern Dance and Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. As a ballet dancer he was part of The Morgan Scott Ballet Company.
His inquisitive spirit drove him to experiment
with other disciplines and he became captivated by Middle Eastern Dance which led him to study at The Egypcian Academy
of Oriental Dance with the internationally renowned teacher Yousry Sharif and the incomparable Elena Lentini. Soon after,
Fouad was invited by Mr. Sharif to became a member of the Yousry Sharif Dance Ensemble. He has also learned from Mahmoud Reda,
Raqia Hassan and Aida Nour.
During his 12 years of residence in
New York City, he took part in numerous theatrical productions and cultural events, performing in the most important
cities of the United States, to mention a few: Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Miami, Washington, D.C., Las Vegas, New York
and Calgary, Canada. Since 2000 he has been performing regularly with live music in the New York Metro Area.
As a dance instructor he has taught at several Dance Studios and Universities including:Steps, McBurney YMCA, Empire Dance, Djoniba
Drum Center, The United Nations, Master Classes at John Jay College, New York University and Rugters University. Eduardo Fouad’s extensive performing
experience ranges from dancing to live Arabic music in night clubs to performing on the theater stage,
both as a soloist as well as a partner for some of New York’s finest Middle Eastern Dancers like
Andrea Anwar (His Dance Partner), Amar and Samara. He
was engaged at “Arts in the Park”, a Traditional & Ethnic Music Festival in Providence, Rhode Island produced by Nourhan Sharif.
Because of his long commitment
to the arts of the Middle East he was invited to perform at a gala for the Egyptian and Indian Consulates hosted
at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.
His artistry has been showcased on several occasions for celebrities such us Donald Trump for whom he danced
at a private event at the Taj Majal Casino. Other important appearances include, Lincoln Center Summer Stage Festival, the legendary
Studio 54, Tavern on the Green, The Plaza Hotel, The Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center, The Dallas
Museum of Art and The Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas. To mention a few of the Corporations he has presented his work for: American Airlines, IBM, The
Village Voice, Putumayo Records, Philip Morris, Prudential Insurance, Met Life, Citibank, Conde Nast, Night
Life Magazine, American Red Cross, Minolta, etc. His
main artistic honor has been to share the stage with his teacher Yousry Sharif at a performance at The Brooklyn Museum of
Art. His main TV appearances include WB 11 Morning
News (dance instructor) and Canal 41 Univision Network (live performance.)
As a choreographer Eduardo is know for understanding and delicately
combining different artistic languages, shaping them into organic and original pieces. He took part in the of Crossing Boundaries
Dance Series at Dixon Place Theatre, he choreographed a Belly Dance–Tango fusion piece for the theatrical production
Mosaic, a Celebration of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Dance, and he presented his work at the New York City International
Fringe Festival.
